Things that make you go hmmm....
Reno police detectives are investigating the reported theft of 24 used jet engines from a Reno construction yard.
The engines, owned by Aviation Technologies Ltd. of Tonopah, were stored outside in a gated, locked yard in the 2300 block of Sutro Street. The theft was reported Tuesday.
According to company representatives, the engines weigh about 3,000 pounds each and together are worth between $24 and $55 million. They were stored on pallets and would have required heavy equipment to transport. - Reno Gazette-Journal
Let's see, 24 engines times 3000 pounds equals 72,000 pounds of total weight. Heavy equipment or not, this project is going to take some time. This brings up several questions. 1) What the hell are the thieves going to do with the engines? 2) What about security? A camera maybe? Night/day watchman? 3) Where are they now? 4) How soon until they appear on ebay?
