WWJD?
Gay marriage and amending our Constitution. Should homosexuals be allowed to wed?
Those who support gay marriage have many widely ranging reasons including (but definitely not limited to) being gay, caring about someone who is gay even if they are not, believing strongly that this right should be extended to everyone, and simply wanting to stick their finger in the eye of the religious right.
On the other hand, those opposed to gay marriage seem to be of their opinion for primarily religious reasons. They may disguise their motives behind claims of protecting the children through the family unit but this holds no water when you consider all the loving parents who happen to be gay and the fact that divorce is legal.
The religion in question is Christianity, therefore it stands to reason that, ultimately, Christ ought to be the one who guides them. Pretty basic. If the man/deity were here today what would he do?
"This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you." - John 15:12
"Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shall thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." - Matthew 7:5
