- Haitian civil rights groups filed the lawsuit because the game, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, instructs players to "kill the Haitians" and awards points for each kill. - Yahoo
So it's okay to kill the cops, kill the Cubans, kill the mafia, pedestrians and vehicles, but not okay to kill Haitians. I could understand this if the entire game revolved around killing Haitians (or cops, or Cubans, etc..), but it's not. Why this game is attracting so much legal b.s. is beyond me. It's like the parents who keep spewing moral outrage against the game for the effect it has on their kids. First of all, what the hell kind of parent are you for a) allowing a child to have a copy of the game - a game that is rated MA and not sold to anyone under 18 in most places, and b) raising a child so desensitized to violence that they think shooting at a person or a car is a perfectly acceptable thing to do. Sure, it's the video game's fault. Just like Ozzy Osbourne and Judas Priest are responsible for teen suicide in the 80's. Holy Nell Carter Batman, give me a fucking break.- Where does it end? When do we stop blaming entertainment for shitty parenting? I'm all about stopping racism, but in a game where you kill pretty much anything with two legs, is one pixilated death any different from the next? Why don't we all sue them? Sue, Sue, Sue! Someone's got to take the blame and it sure the hell ain't going to be us, right?
